Some words from the artist...
For me, art is connected to a personal reality. It reflects a
philosophical view. Each piece, a possible visual essay; in my
case, hopeful, yet realistic. I seek to create art that evokes
humor and reflection, a meeting point for healing, reaching for a
sense of faith, a sense of fun, and joy. I hope to create art
conveying my wish for a meaningful way of life for us, for the
viewer, while avoiding any suggestion of pedantry.
When accepting and completing commissions, whether in
free-form, or portraits, this is the vision that drives my work.

THE MUSIC INSIDE will be held in the Sports Club of the
Bank for International Settlements in Bottmingen,
Baselland. The Club is a meeting place, a social and
athletic facility for the BIS, its guests, staff, families and
friends. My work for this show will greet club members and
visitors with thoughtful, occasionally humorous, and
whimsical art. The pieces will provide contrasts in materials
and elements: translucent/opaque, rough/smooth,
organic/synthetic. They will contain multiple levels of wood,
recycled plastics, acrylic resin, metallic features, and will be
both painterly and sculptural in character.
The exhibit, ODE TO JOY, was held in the public areas of
the Augenklinik of the Universitaetsspital Basel. The Klinik
invited artists like myself to show their art in the various
waiting rooms. My work for this show was done with
the intention of providing "company" to patients and staff as
they go through their days of giving and receiving care in a
hospital setting. The work was also created and
priced in such a way so that patients, staff, and others who
happen to visit the Klinik could feel that the pieces were well
within their reach.
